FAQ

1. What types of issues do you deal with?

Our specialty is working with relationship issues (marriage/sexual, parenting, blended families, premarital counseling), depression, anxiety/fear, grief, trauma or PTSD, sleep disorders/problems, obsessive/compulsive behaviors, chronic pain or illness, addictions or substance abuse.

2. Since you specialize in marriage and family therapy, do I have to bring my family or spouse to sessions?

Because we are comfortable meeting with entire families and couples, clients are strongly encouraged to bring family members. In our experience, the work of therapy is greatly accelerated when others involved are included in the sessions. If family members or spouses are unwilling to come to the sessions, then we work with the individual.

3. How much do sessions cost?

One session—50 minutes—is $150. No extra cost for added family members.

4. Is it the same price for premarital counseling?

We offer a special premarital counseling package—The Honeymooner’s Special. In this package, the couple will meet with the marriage professional on 3 visits which will include going over the results of the PREPARE/ENRICH assessment tool information (cost is separate). If a couple does not want this package, then the cost of each session is at the normal rate.

5. Do you take insurance?

No. For the least restrictive practice management, we offer clients a detailed receipt that they may submit to their insurance for reimbursement, depending on the guidelines of the insurance company. For those who prefer to use their insurance, this has been a suitable option and our clients have not experienced any difficulties getting reimbursed. We do not directly bill claims or gather payment from insurance companies. We take cash, check, and most major credit cards and debit cards.

6. How many visits does the average person need?

Most clients and families make between 5 and 8 visits total for their issues to be resolved. Of course, there are those who take less than 5 visits as well as those who require more than 8 visits. This will vary from situation to situation.

7. Do you offer any free consultation?

Yes, for clients who request, we do offer a free thirty minute in-office consultation. This way we can be certain that we are the best choice for helping with your issue(s) and it allows our clients to check us out without obligation. In these situations, we are able to set up the appointment time to also include a paid session to follow if the client and therapist are both agreeable to start therapeutic work. Before any official work can begin, however, all consent forms must be read and signed by the client(s).

8. Can I email a request for an appointment?

Since children do have access to the internet, all appointments must be made by phone.
